The Combat Nation
The GAME
The Combat Nation is a group of Mixed Martial Artists and other Professionals, who want to add options to their MMA, then test it.
The options game is simply referred to as (The GAME) and the competitors referred to as Combatants.
THE GAME is an advanced extension of the sport of Mixed Martial Arts, whereas, now not only does the Combatants have all the tools found in MMA such as striking, locks and chokes with an emphasis on position, but now the Combatants have other options to obtain.
The option is a small palm stick 6-to-8 inches long with a small padded ball on the end, referred to as (the ball). The goal is to hit your opponent with the ball 3 times in a striking manner to win, with out getting knocked out, submitted, or allowing the opponent to obtain their ball and strike, or obtain your ball and use it against you..
The Combatants carry the ball secured for obtaining in a designated place on the body, usually around the ankle for a quick draw during the game. When the option is obtained we refer to this as a play, you have offensive plays, defensive plays, steals etc. Some plays are referred to by names such as Mayps, Uuler, Bocoul, etc.
The GAME is played on an amateur or professional level. The difference being the amateur is played solely on the ground with two Combatants starting on their back, head to head, facing opposite directions, and no striking. The professional level starts in a standing position and does allow striking with the standard MMA gloves. This progression allows the amateur to learn and develop good fundamentals of the GAME prior to entering the pro level.
The GAME consists of 3 - 3 minute rounds with a referee, with a 1 minute rest in between for amateur, and a 30 second rest for Pros. During a round the Combatants will be alerted with 3 separate bells. The first bell at 1;30 signaling freedom to obtain the option Note: prior to the first bell the Combatants are not allowed to obtain the option. The second bell alerts the Combatants there is 30 seconds left in the round and the third bell signals the end of the round.
At the end of the third round scores will be tallied by the referee and two judges, unless one of the Combatants has been knock unconscious or surrenders from submission in the case of a professional match.
In the armature level there are, no weight classes and at the pro level there are weight classes. The matches take place where ever a typical MMA, BJJ or matted area is found.
This highly advanced game not only allows the Combatants to score with MMA tools and their own option with an offensive mindset, but it also trains the Combatants to defend and prohibit the opponent obtaining and scoring with their own option. In addition, you may steal your opponent’s ball and use it against him to score and win the GAME.
In the event both Combatants obtain their option and are striking one another, it will be called a draw, and the round will be re-played with no rest period.
With these options it brings up the questions, is it better to obtain my option, or to stop my opponent from obtaining his, or should I protect my option and steal his? All without getting knock out or submitted.
The GAME also partially answerers the question, If this had been a life threatening situation and the option was either a knife or a gun, how would I have done against one with skill?
The GAME, in and of itself, validates the authenticity of its nature. The better and smarter man wins.
The GAME also eliminates the notion of dominant position, for example, typically the Mount is regarded as a dominant position, not true in the GAME, whereas if the Combatant underneath has obtained the option and has scored, the dominant position has now been reversed forcing the Combatant on top to re-assess his position according to the GAME. In other words, underneath the Mount is now not a bad place to be if one has obtained his option.
The GAME has been created to be open ended, whereas the Combatants may wish to add a second or third option, forcing the GAME to continuously evolve and reinvent itself by the imagination of the Combatants playing. One may wish to add additional equipment such as Shock Knife, or Airsoft gas guns to stimulate and increase the stress level of the Combatants.
With this open end philosophy, it is impossible for any one group or organization to claim ownership which may cause political, legal, and/or unjust circumstances which may retard the growth or evolution of the GAME and the Combatants playing the GAME.
The GAME is an underground sport mainly played in the northeastern part of the US, with off shoots and smaller groups growing un-registered around the country. Most are BJJ, MMA people who watch the GAME and then want to try it, or professionals who need the GAME in their line of work.
The GAME is great exercise and changes the view of training without sacrificing any fundamentals, rather it encourages good fundamentals.
Sweat and have some fun.
